Hugely enjoyable and entertaining. Read in conjunction with The Worst Journey in the World.

Rightly regarded as a travel classic, the account of existing in sub zero temperatures is astonishing.

A superb book, although sometimes it is difficult to discern which of the authors many journeys to Afghanistan he is describing at any given time.

Essential - and I do mean essential - reading for anyone coming to visit Euskal Herria. Highly recommended.

Very informative if you have a taste for places off the beaten track. Or even on the beaten track. Some of the descriptions of risky encounters made me laugh out loud. But then thats my sense of humour for you. Even if you are not off to Iran, Beirut or Afghanistan in the near future still worth a read.

Fantastic title, huh? Very interesting, real people trying to do the right thing in impossible conditions.

Highly recommended for small boys (and girls) of all ages. Practical advice if you are daft enough to go to these places interspersed with very funny stories. Although it depends on your sense of humour I suppose.
